In my culture, Naiads translate to a type of female spirit or “nymph” if you will, that lives near waters like waterfalls, geysers,, springs, streams, creeks, lakes, really any form of fresh water.
Nereids were specifically from the Mediterranean, but the ancient Greeks viewwed the world’s waters all as one. Essentially all is one.
These fresh water nymphs were often given gifts “offerings” if you will during the coming of age celebrations of little boys and girls in the local towns.

Wanna know more about Greek Mythology and Naiads? When I was a little girl, my Yia Yia taught me how to speak Greek, and I was obsessed with all things Greek philosophy and mythology. It actually led to my pursuit in a major in philosophy.
Crinaeae: hang out near fountains
Eleionomae: reside near marshes

Limnades: lake ladies

Pagaeae: they love the springs

Poameides: float down the rivers all day

What is your favorite type of mythology? Do you believe in any of it?
Do you even read, know, or care much at all about any mythology? I’d love to know what you guys are into!
